About Me

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my website. I am a writer, ghostwriter, editor, and all-around wordsmith. I specialize in crafting memoirs and non-fiction books, and editing text in the fields of higher education, medicine, and for the professional futurist community. Being a creature in love with ideas and fond of research, I consider most any topic worth consideration.

Book Collaborations

I am the credited ghostwriter on the medical memoir, Backbone: The Life and Game-Changing Career of a Spinal Neurosurgeon, by renowned spinal neurosurgeon Volker K. H. Sonntag, M.D.  (Lisa Hagan Books May 2017).

I frequently collaborate with my futurist husband, Dr. Tom Lombardo, of the Center for Future Consciousness. I have edited seven of his published books, countless articles for refereed and other academic journals, and all web content. I am co-author of his philosophical memoir Mind Flight: A Journey into the Future (2011).

Writing & Editing

Recent projects include editing on the futures book, A Transformation Journey to Alternate and Planetary Futures by Victor Moti (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2019), the “Bible” of contact dermatology, Fisher’s Contact Dermatology, 7th Edition (Contact Dermatitis Institute, 2019), and on Tom Lombardo’s Science Fiction: The Evolutionary Mythology of the Future (Changemakers Books, 2018.) My essays and book reviews have appeared in the journals Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education; Focus on Basics, Journal of Future Studies; Learning Tomorrow; World Future Society Anthology;  and Science, Wisdom, and the Future: Humanity’s Quest for a Flourishing Earth, as well as in various online magazines. Articles I have edited have appeared in the above journals and in World Future Review, Educause, On the Horizon, World Affairs, The Journal of International Issues, and The Futurist. I am a published poet and author of the academic work, The Ontological Underpinnings of the Modern Utopia. I have blogged about memoir and other writing topics here and at my other blog, Memoir Crafter, since 2012. I also worked as a technical/medical writer/editor for SmartPractice in Phoenix, Arizona from 2017-2022.

Attentive Director

A few years back I took an online personality test called the Personal DNA. The results pegged me as an “Attentive Director,” which made sense. I like imposing order on structures, especially when it comes to written passages. I can’t resist scanning any written document for grammatical delinquencies.

I craft words and stories (from press releases, speeches, and book proposals to blog posts, web landing pages, and full-length books and memoirs), provide editorial services, and offer project management on longer projects. I invite you to view the “Arizona Ghostwriter” and “Editing” pages to read more on the range of writing projects I can assist with.

I hold a Master degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities and a BA in Spanish and Latin American Studies (with what they used to call a minor in English).

Postscript

I live in the Phoenix metro area with my husband Tom, my darling Burmese cat Pookie, and hundreds of cactus. I count a storm rolling into the desert as one of the most aesthetically galvanizing forces on this planet.
